Tyler Perry Surprises Elderly Shoppers In 73 Different Stores By Paying For All Of Their Groceries
Tyler Perry continues to spread the love during the COVID-19 pandemic. Just days after tipping workers $21,000 at an Atlanta restaurant, the media mogul has paid for the groceries of dozens of eldery shoppers in two different states.
According to People magazine, Perry paid the entire grocery bill for elderly shoppers at 44 Kroger stores in Atlanta, Georgia, – where he currently lives – as well as for shoppers in 29 Winn Dixie stores in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana.

The kind gesture happened during the one hour that is reserved for elderly customers who wish to get their groceries without large crowds in the store during the coronavirus pandemic. Many stores across the country are opening their doors early for older customers only, while others reserve their first hour of business for elderly shoppers only.
The response on social media to Perry’s act of generosity has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans commenting that he is a “good man” and the gesture was “great” and “awesome.”
“This is beyond beautiful. God bless him,” wrote one fan, with another simply adding: “Hero.”
Perry has quite the history with charitable giving and random acts of kindness. Back in November, the Madea creator helped an engaged Atlanta couple – Stephen Johnson and Tori Austin – who were stuck in Mexico because they couldn’t pay a $14,000 medical bill after an emergency during their vacation.
An insider says that Perry not only paid the couple’s medical bill, but he also paid for their travel expenses to get home after they were allowed to leave.

“Today I am thankful for and will always be thankful for Tyler Perry,” Austin wrote on Facebook at the time. “My mom was also a huge fan of his.”
During the 2018 holiday season, the A Fall From Grace director paid for all of the layaways at two different Walmarts in Atlanta. Walmart spokesperson LeMia Jenkins said that Perry paid $434,000 for all of the layaway items that had been put on hold by 1,500 people.

In response, Walmart wrote on the company’s official Twitter account that Tyler Perry “just made Christmas for so many families. You went above and beyond.”
